The Whitworth & HOME, Manchester
Outside/Inside: The Whitworth & HOME
engage North West Reps invite members and regional colleagues to an exciting study visit to two of Manchester’s newest cultural landmarks.
The afternoon Area Group meeting will begin with a Picnic in the Park – an informal picnic lunch in Whitworth Park (or inside if it’s raining!). The picnic will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring extra treats to share.
The Whitworth, part of the University of Manchester, will welcome participants to its Gallery in the Park. The gallery was recently awarded the Art Fund prize for Museum of the Year after reopening this February after a £15 million development, which transformed the gallery. Come and meet the teams behind the formal and engagement programmes, and discover your drawing skills as artist Oliver East takes you on a mark making journey both inside and out.
HOME is Manchester’s new purpose built arts and entertainment venue, formed from the merger of Cornerhouse and the Library Theatre Company. It is a place for people from all walks of life to enjoy local, national and international cinema, theatre and visual art all under one roof. Join Head of Engagement Marisa Draper for a tour of the galleries and an insight into HOME’s engagement programme.
We’ll round off the day with a social meet up at HOME’s bar. Come and meet fellow members, find out about projects across the North West and catch up over a drink or two. Please get in touch if you’d like to share details of any projects you’re working on.
