Identifying and Interpreting Roman Coins

Run by Museum Development Yorkshire this workshop will provide an introduction to Roman coinage in museums. The workshop is aimed at curators, volunteers or archaeologists who work with Roman coinage or are planning to do so. Prior experience is not required as the session will provide a basic background. 

The workshop will be hands-on with participants working with coins from York Museums Trust’s collection. The session will cover:

  • Identifying coins
  • Appropriate handling
  • Interpretation possibilities
  • Practicalities of using coins
  • Finding further information

Lunch is not included. The event is organised in partnership with York Museums Trust and is open to museums in the North West.  Download the PDF flyer for more information.
