Audience Development and Learning Co-ordinator (Maternity Cover)
Part Time, Fixed Term Contract (3 days per week for 6 months)
Salary: £20,500

Elizabeth Gaskell’s House opened to the public in October 2014 and in its first year has attracted large numbers of visitors who have enjoyed its unique, welcoming atmosphere. The house is owned and managed by Manchester Historic Buildings Trust and run by a House Manager and Audience Development & Learning Co-ordinator, supported by an enthusiastic team of volunteers.

Their priority for their second year is to establish our learning programme, particularly working with primary schools.

Their Audience Development & Learning Co-ordinator will be on maternity leave from January 2016 and they are looking for an experienced and creative learning professional to step into her role while she is away.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager who is responsible for the day to day running of the house. Their main role in this limited time will be to establish our schools programme, as well as continuing to develop relationships with the local community and work with their partners enJOY Arts.

The role will include supporting the manager in developing a audience development strategy and training the diverse and enthusiastic volunteer team, with a special emphasis on building a team of volunteers who can deliver audience development and learning activity.

This is a part time post, working 3 days per week. The working pattern will be flexible and primarily dependant on your programme of engagement with schools and community groups. Some evenings may be required, to support any  events and community engagement programme.
