Head of Learning
Salary: 30,000

Towner Art Gallery is looking for a full-time permanent Head of Learning to develop and lead a dynamic team of staff and artist educators for education and outreach work in the gallery and in the community.

Towner is an award winning art gallery, showcasing artists of national and international significance and presenting works from their acclaimed collection. They place learning and a commitment to access at the heart of everything they do, building on the original vision of the gallery’s philanthropic founder to create ‘an art gallery for the people’.

Responsibilities for the Head of Learning include, strategic planning, promotion and delivery of the organisation’s formal and informal learning programmes, to the highest standards. they will collaborate with the Exhibitions and Collection teams on developing interpretation and complimentary programmes and activities, they will be expected to line manage the programming and facilitation staff within the Learning Team, as well as overseeing the recruitment, training, performance management and contractual needs of core and freelance staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management and control of the Learning budget, ensuring best value is achieved at all times, they will liaise with all internal and external teams and staff to ensure the smooth and safe delivery of the Learning programme. They will also establish and maintain a range of partnerships with key strategic organisations, agencies and groups and develop effective networks with regard to working collaboratively on projects, sharing expertise and best practice and securing commissions, funding and sponsorship.
