The School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester, in partnership with National Museums Liverpool and FutureLearn, is once again offering the opportunity to join their free online course, “Behind the Scenes at the 21st Century Museum”
The course, which attracted over 11,000 learners in its first run, is aimed at museum volunteers and professionals as well as those interested in a taster of the School’s Museum Studies course. It covers topics including audience development, how museums can cope with emotional subjects and how museums can actively participate in current issues including social justice and human rights issues and how museums, in partnership with other organisations, can support the health and wellbeing of their communities.
Learners will have the opportunity to hear about the latest research from the School of Museum Studies and engage with a range of case studies from National Museums Liverpool. At each step you will have to discuss the topics and issues covered with your fellow learners and it is also possible to obtain a statement of participation at the end of the course.
The course lasts for six weeks and requires a minimum of two hours study per week.
