Freelance Opportunity: Herb Society

The Herb Society is an educational charity dedicated to encouraging the appreciation and
use of herbs. It was founded in 1927 by medical herbalist, Hilda Leyel, with the aim of
supporting the practice of herbal medicine in Britain.

They are looking for freelance administration support to deal with general office tasks,
membership, communication and publicity working alongside the Trustees. The role will
include variety of administrative responsibilities,  such as database management, website maintenance, communicating with members, and more.

The ideal candidate will have, a minimum of three years’ relevant experience of office administration, experience of working with databases, excellent communication skills in person and in writing, they will be a practical person who is organised and methodical in their approach to work, and will have  experience of preparing papers for meetings, recording and producing minutes.

The Administrator will be engaged on a freelance contract for one day a week at a fee of
£100 per day initially for 6 months. If additional hours are required, for instance to take
minutes at meetings, the Administrator will be paid at a rate of £12 per hour. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible after interview. There may be the
opportunity to extend the contract depending on performance in the first 6 months.
The Administrator will work flexibly from home with the expectation that some time may be spent at Society Board meetings.
