Development Manager
Part Time Temporary Contract (15 hours per week for 18 months – October 2016 – March 2018)
Salary:  £30,500

Z-arts are looking to recruit a development manager to play an integral role in the implementation of their fundraising strategy; a wide ranging ambitious strategy to increase their income from trusts and foundations and individual donors from 1% to 28% of total fundraising over three years.

Z-arts is Manchester’s venue for children and families. Their ambition is to provide an artistic programme that reflects and stimulates the twenty-first century contemporary family, embracing all its diversity. Their mission is to inspire and enable generations of young people from across Manchester and beyond to utilize their creativity to maximise their potential by delivering a broad range of visual and performing arts events, performances, exhibitions, activities, workshops and participatory opportunities.

Over the last two years Z-arts has trialled a number of ways of gaining private income; including from trusts and foundations, high-net-wealth donors; small-scale individual giving; crowdfunding; corporate partnerships and membership schemes. They have made small inroads in each of these areas. This new position is to enable them to take bigger steps by increasing their capacity and organisational learning to fulfil their potential.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of raising funds from trusts and foundations, experience of having created and led a fundraising campaign, experience of building networks of individual donors, experience of developing and working with sponsors, experience of setting realistic project budgets, and experience of partnership work and developing productive networks.

They should also have the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with conflicting demands, as well as to work co-operatively as part of a small team, be able to demonstrate strong and versatile communication skills, both verbal and written, have excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge and experience of using a broad range of I.T. in the work place, the should be self-motivated and enthusiastic about their work, be able to work on own initiative, and be able to display an attention to detail.
