Update from Museums Association, August 2016

Update from Alex Walker, MA rep for the North West

The Museums Association has funding from ACE for continuation of the very successful Transformers programme.   The MA is in discussions with Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland – aiming to have representatives from all four nations on the programme this year. Please find the news story here http://www.museumsassociation.org/news/01082016-ma-to-expand-transformers-programme MA will begin formal work on the programme in October and will announce recruitment dates shortly after that so please keep your eyes out for announcements.

Conference & Exhibition

There are still places left on our special offer for delegates from smaller museums. For full details of subsidised place and grants see here: http://www.museumsassociation.org/conference/05072016-subsidised-places-for-small-and-medium-sized-museums

And for those who can’t afford to pay to attend, there is the Exhibition – with a massive programme of free content – 28 Museum Practice Workshop (http://www.museumsassociation.org/conference/25072016-mp-workshops)

Plus new this year a Careers Hub with 12 sessions (http://www.museumsassociation.org/conference/careers-hub).

All this plus a hundred stands of leading suppliers and consultants and lot of product launches and on stand demos. No other event offers so much in the sector for free.

Some offers are coming up in August and September. Look out for a time-limited sizzling-hot membership offer on social media coming in the next few weeks. MA will also be running the annual student membership campaign in the September and will be looking to repeat last year’s successful offer to smaller museums.  More information to follow soon.
