Collections Management Assistant
Salary: £17,500 + benefits
Location: Blackwell the Arts and Crafts House, Bowness and Abbot Hall, Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry, Kendal, Cumbria
Lakeland Arts are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual with a passion for museums, galleries and cultural heritage to join our ambitious curatorial team and assist in the management of the Lakeland Arts Collections. You will care for the library and archive, maintaining paper and digital catalogue records, carry out loans administration, respond to research enquiries and supervise visits from researchers.
Lakeland Arts runs Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Blackwell the Arts & Crafts House and the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry, and is developing the Windermere Jetty; Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories. We are one of the leading independent museum and gallery trusts in the UK, a dynamic organisation creating opportunities for understanding and enjoyment through the work of artists and the Trust’s collections and buildings.
This post offers the opportunity to build your knowledge and develop your experience across the breadth of Lakeland Arts Collections – from historic paintings and crafts to twentieth century and contemporary art, social history, and boat collections. You will assist in improving access to the collections, and maintain in accordance with Arts Council England Accreditation requirements.
