National Museums Day

When: 15th May
Where: UK Wide

A series of activities designed to promote the work of UK museums to stakeholders and politicians will take place on 15 May as part of Museums Day.

The day of nationwide political advocacy, organised by the Museums Association (MA) and National Museum Directors Council (NMDC), will be a focal point for all museums to engage with local and national politicians to promote the impact that museums have across social, cultural, economic, scientific and educational spheres.

Museum leaders across the UK will be encouraged to step up their advocacy activity through a range of different activities including writing to key stakeholders, inviting local politicians to visit museums and using social media to promote museums’ work. The Museums Association and NMDC will provide guidance, facts and figures for museums participating in Museums Day prior to the event.
