10:30 – 11:30
From What Next?:
Sir Nicholas Serota, Chair of Arts Council England, is coming to What Next? GMR to talk about the funding landscape and case making for arts and culture in the current economic and politica landscape.
What Next? is a growing collective of arts and cultural organisations who have come together to promote engagement with, and support for, the cultural work that takes place day-in and day-out around the country.
Our purpose is to find new ways of engaging with ‘the public’ – our audience and visitors, as well as our potential audience and visitors: the ever-expanding millions who value and take part in the work made with, for and by them.
Our task is to encourage people to see connections between the many different ways art and culture affects and enhances their lives. We want to urge them to register their endorsement of their art and culture, especially where these are under threat.
What Next? groups now meet regularly in a number of major UK centres, including Greater Manchester. Sessions often include a guest speaker invited to provoke, inform, stimulate and challenge our thinking. At the end of their presentation we open the floor to questions to stimulate discussion. Recent speakers have included Michael Oglesby, Ed Vaizey, Alison Clark, Alan Higgins, Sir Richard Leese, Nick Merriman.
To book a ticket please visit the eventbrite page and please note that this event is for those working in Greater Manchester only.
