To support Accredited museums and those working towards Accreditation in the North West, MDNW have been working with freelancer Marge Ainsley to offer a new marketing and audience development mentoring programme.
Over the last four months, 26 staff from 16 organisations across the region have taken part to confidentially talk through their current challenges and ideas with Marge. Amongst many topics, discussions have included:
- Planning communication for reopening
- Supporting understanding and awareness of audience research and data (especially to inform reopening plans)
- Writing effective, usable marketing and audience development plans
- Marketing to schools
- Rethinking priorities due to Covid-19
- Conducting marketing audits
- Recruitment of marketing staff members
- Sharing best practice practical examples of tactical campaign ideas
- Using data strategically
- Online evaluation and audience consultation.
“I found the mentoring personally very beneficial. Having that time to sit down and focus on just marketing, and with the deadlines that it brought really helped kick start the process for me. As a team we are already working on projects that directly came out of my discussions with Marge…” Marketing and Audience Development Mentor programme participant
We’re delighted to say that due to demand we’re extending the opportunity for mentoring with Marge up to October 2021.
Book your 1-1 mentoring/critical friend sessions with Marge
If you would benefit from having a sounding board to share your marketing, communication, audience development or visitor research and audience consultation ideas or concerns, then this programme is for you. Marge’s mentoring sessions are open for booking and are available from July – October 2021. Three, 45-minute sessions can be booked per organisation. Although priority will go to museums who have not yet received mentoring from Marge, if you’ve already taken part and would benefit from additional sessions you are welcome to book on again.
The sessions are more suited to organisations who do not have in-house marketing teams, those who have little or no expertise in this field of work, or those who need a refresher. Open only to Accredited Museums or those working towards Accreditation in the North West.
How to book
You can book a session with Marge directly and the sessions can be held via Zoom or on telephone. A maximum of three, 45-minute sessions can be booked per museum in this second phase.
