Apprentice Visitor Services Assistant

The Harris Museum & Art Gallery are looking to recruit a motivated front line member of staff to provide a first class customer care service to all of their visitors.

Apprenticeship Opportunity: HOME

Programme Assistant (Apprenticeship)

As part of the Creative Employment Programme, we have a fantastic opportunity to join the Programme Team at HOME. You’ll be working in a key support role within the visual art and film teams of HOME, contributing to the effective running of HOME’s artistic programming. You’ll be responsible for managing the schedules of the Artistic Directors for film and visual art, managing guests (including visiting artists and filmmakers), and assisting with events and exhibitions.

This is an apprenticeship role, and alongside working at HOME you will complete a Level 3 qualification in Community Arts. You must be 18-24, resident in the city of Manchester, and not in education, employment, or training in order to apply.

Creative Employment Programme Extended to 2016

Cultural organisations in England have been given an extra 12 months to apply to the Creative Employment Programme and secure funding to subsidise new apprentice and internship positions within the sector.

The extension will enable the continuation of a hugely successful programme which has already engaged over 850 arts and cultural sector organisations across England, enabling more than 1,000 apprenticeships, 1,200 internships to be created in businesses of all sizes.

The Creative Employment Programme is supported by Arts Council England Lottery funding. It aims to support employers within the Arts Council’s footprint1 to create apprenticeships, internship and traineeship opportunities for unemployed young people aged 16-24 in England.

Following the decision to extend the programme, employers now have until November 2015 to apply for grants to subsidise the wages of new recruits, and positions can start any time before 31st March 2016.

Funding available to support Apprenticeships

  • £2000 per apprenticeship from the Creative Employment Programme1, when you pay the National Minimum Wage (relevant to their age) or £1,500 when you pay at least the Apprentice Minimum Wage (£2.73 p/hr) for 12 months for at least 30 hours a week.
  • £1500 Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) government funding can be matched to this for companies with less than 50 employees who have not had an apprentice in the last 12 months (enhanced to £3000 in London for employers under 250 staff).
  • £2500 per paid internship from the Creative Employment Programme, when you pay the National Minimum Wage (relevant to their age) for six months for min. 30 hours a week.
