Numismatics workshop – Making the Most of Orphaned Collections

MDNW, in partnership with the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, is running a practical workshop on how to get the most out of orphaned numismatic collections. The day will be led by Matthew Ball, Project Curator of the Harris Museum & Art Gallery’s “Money Matters” project. Other speakers include:

  • Vanessa Oakden (Portable Antiquities Scheme Finds Liaison Officer) – identifying Roman coins
  • Students from Lancaster University – numismatics from the First World War
  • Tom Hockenhull (Project Curator, Modern Money, Department of Coins and Medals, British Museum)
- British tokens
  • Henry Flynn (Project Curator, Money and Medals Network, Department of Coins and Medals, British Museum) – an introduction to storage and documentation
